About

Pamela Morgenstern

Like a lot of hard working families, I grew up in a home of modest means, living paycheck to paycheck. My dad was an auto mechanic, pumped gas and eventually taught auto body at a trade school, while my mom took care of us 4 kids and babysat for a little extra income.

I attended public schools and trade schools and worked as a Teacher’s Assistant at a community college in Santa Monica, California. Over time, I developed skills that led me to a 32- year career as an Art Director and Project Manager within the entertainment industry where I worked between the creative and executive branches developing multimillion dollar product lines.

During this time, I was also on a steering committee and, for 17 years, a volunteer for The Venice Family Clinic addressing free healthcare and homelessness. Community service has always been at the heart of my endeavors.

Since my retirement in 2010, I’ve been a grassroots organizer for the Democratic Party working the polls, registering voters, and assisting with community projects for Back-to-School drives, holiday gift drives and food drives.

My platform is shaped by the folks I listen to every day who are struggling to keep a roof over their heads, food on the table, and their kids in school. Folks are worried about the needs of aging parents and grandparents, and they worry that they can’t catch a break.

I believe that there are laws being passed that may help some, but what about everyone else, especially those who are disenfranchised.

I believe that when we help to lift others up to succeed, we all succeed.

About

Your Vote is Your Voice!

Above all, I will always safeguard democracy and protect your constitutional right to vote by pushing back against any attempt that limits your access to the ballot box.

I will fight for better paying jobs with wages that will support the needs of our working class families. The minimum wage in North Carolina hasn’t increased since 2008 while hard working families are struggling to make ends meet.

I will prioritize funding of public schools and pay teachers a wage that shows them that we value their contributions to our students, families and society. “Public schools are our last social equalizer.”

I will work to ensure that we fully fund Medicare & Medicaid and affordable healthcare for all. I will champion women’s reproductive rights and access to healthcare. In addition, I will address the opioid crisis by providing resources for recovery and preventative care.

I will address the ongoing childcare crisis with resources for quality care and affordable solutions for all families. Affordable and accessible childcare are stumbling blocks to many of our families, especially single moms.

I will fight to protect the environment and ensure that we have clean air & water with policies to protect our planet. Future generations are depending on us to do our part to fight against climate change.
